We could know kinds of stones in our daily life ,but stones are also various .Different hardness and type ,the processing way is different .Automatically stone polishing machine is also a good way for polishing .Generally speaking ,the best way to polish stones also depends on their characters ,the hardness of surface and artificial finish .Normally ,polishing stones have a basic method involves several steps as below:

1. Clean the surface of stone: using water or a mild detergent to remove any dirt, dust, or debris from the surface of the stone.

2. Grind the stone : firstly , use a coarse grit (50-100) sandpaper or diamond grinding wheel to grind the stone down roughly, until the desired shape is achieved. Secondly, work your way to finer grits (200-400, 800-1200) gradually,the surface of stone will be flat and smooth .

3.Polish the stone: using  a polishing agent or paste to polish the stone, starting with a coarse grit and gradually moving to a finer grit. A soft, damp cloth or polishing wheel can be used to apply the compound.

4.Rinse and dry the stone: Once achieved desired polish level , rinse the stone with water and use a soft cloth to dry it totally .

As we said stones were various .Some stones may require a different way or using special machine for polishing .Many factories will adpot automatical machines ,such as Continuous granite polishing machine,Marble tile line polishing machines to lower the cost of labor .Before processing ,it is very important to do a research on the specific needs of  your  stones.
